Press Release Body = Colleges jump on Gaming Bandwagon

Plenty of high school graduates enter college to get their parents off their back. A
degree in Leisure Studies found many students sleeping halfway through the lecture,
and gave others the ability to tell their families they were on their way to a
college degree.

Nowadays, colleges all over the country are offering classes that teach students
about gaming. Now, most students would probably think, "Cool, I get to play video
games all day!" What these courses offer are much more than a forum to play games
and eat potato chips all day. College campuses all over the country are now offering
classes that teach students not only the history of the gaming world itself, but
also how to design, implement, and create video games through a variety of mediums.

Some colleges offer gaming degrees similar to those degrees handed out to a graphic
designer. There are many aspects of gaming that most people don\'t know about such as
the design of character movements, graphics that give the characters life, and other
details such as sound and music. All of these attributes require programmers to
actually create real body movements, sounds, and expressions. Students enrolled in
the gaming courses learn to manipulate objects, build models, employ lighting
effects and design movement; all planned through careful story boarding and
cinematic techniques.

Certain colleges offer fourteen-week programs to learn how to actually write
programs for video games. Most students do not get to play them though. Sometimes
students take classes in computer graphics because of their interest in the subject
matter, but the teachers sometimes do not emphasize the video-game aspect of
teaching. They do emphasize the technology and underlying foundation of writing the
games.

So to those students thinking they can get away with another easy "A" in college by
taking a course on gaming, be weary. These courses are meant to give the student a
strong foundation to build upon. After all, when class is over you can always go
home and play with your own games right?
